Description
Addglobe 's Gas Flow Meter 2.0 is a new-generation high-flow portable sampler, designed to accurately measure flammable gas leaks to EPA standards.
This high-flow sampler is equipped with a small (20 mm) optical sensor, covering a wide temperature range from -40 to +60°C, to measure the concentration of natural gas. The main difference compared with most optical sensors lies in the replacement of the incandescent micro-lamp emitter by a semiconductor LED, and of the pyroelectric photodetector receiver by a photodiode equipped with an integrated spectral filter. This approach has improved reliability while significantly reducing the sensor's power consumption, which is essential in battery-powered systems.
AddGlobe uses an exclusive patented technology, Displaced Oxygen Correction, to increase measurement accuracy in the event of large leaks. The measuring system features an additional sensor that indicates the oxygen content by volume. During purging, the reading is checked with a value of 20.9% O₂. Thanks to these corrections, the natural gas content in the stream is adjusted and the influence of heavy hydrocarbon impurities is eliminated. At low gas concentrations in the sample, it is now possible to reduce the sampling flow rate to further improve measurement accuracy.
How Gas Flow Meter 2.0 works
To capture gas flows far from the leak source, sampling is carried out at high speed, resulting in dilution with ambient air. The precise sampling rate and natural gas concentration are then used to calculate the leak rate. The device automatically compensates for the difference in gas content between the sample and ambient air, guaranteeing a reliable leak rate calculation.
The GFM 2.0 is controlled wirelessly via an Android smartphone (version 6.0 or higher), which displays technical data and controls the GFM sampler. Reception range is 5 meters.
